During the month of May, Dr Bitange Ndemo curated our first Entrepreneurship Forum at the iHub which was quite an eye opener for many of those who attended. This series of sessions on entrepreneurship facilitated by Dr Ndemo came about as a result of one of his weekly articles in the Daily Nation. With about 100 attendees in the first forum, this number has been on the rise since then. Chase Bank is currently an official partner for the entrepreneurship lecture since this aligns with our strategy in building strong relationship and exceptional customer service and this has been evident from the interaction between the attendees and the Chase bank Representatives during these lectures.
The entrepreneurship lecture is diversified in terms of reach and industry and Chase Bank being both an SME and innovative bank, we’re well positioned to serve this entrepreneurs.
The first lecture was setting ground for entrepreneurship and this was demonstrated very well by Dr. Bitange when the voiced the mission of the lecture, “To be spurring entrepreneurship, improving productivity amongst the youth, figuring how entrepreneurship can be diversified and helping Kenyans identify opportunities.”
Through the mission of the lecture, Chase Bank can help spur entrepreneurship. For instance, during the second lecture on Agribusiness. Entrepreneurs who are aiming at such kind of ventures would easily get financial guidance through the Chase Agri package and this would not only lead to potential customers in the long run but also long term relationship with these entrepreneurs.
The last lecture was on oil & gas industry and the speaker was Dr Gathuru, the director of KIPYA an Oil and Gas Company. He was taking the participants through the difference between downstream, midstream and upstream, with a lot of emphasis on upstream. This was largely influenced by the discovery of oil and gas in Turkana, indicating that there are a lot of players who are needed in this sector right from the service providers to the contractors and suppliers.
Through these sessions, Chase bank is able to customize and rethink about certain industries and align some products and services to the un-serviced sectors. This will in turn enable us to be the leading the players with specific products for certain demands and sectors, as well as ensuring marginalized sectors are catered to financially.
